Creative Tech for Kids is a beginner package that brings coding, digital art, visual design and storytelling together. Children start with small guided activities and build towards a portfolio they can explain with confidence. The emphasis is on imagination, problem solving and creating original work.

What is included?

  1. ScratchJr: arrange picture blocks, move characters, change backgrounds and create a short animated story. This is a gentle introduction before desktop coding.
  2. Scratch Desktop: explore sprites, events, sequences, repeats and simple decisions. Build an interactive scene or a small game and practise finding and fixing mistakes.
  3. Digital Art with Tizzy's First Tools: use colours, shapes and drawing tools to create a character or scene. Practise mouse control, saving work and describing design choices. A compatible, licensed installation must be confirmed before this module.
  4. Canva design: plan presentations, adapt templates, create greetings cards and design a simple project teaser. Focus on readable text, balanced layouts and using images responsibly.
  5. Video editing: arrange clips, trim unwanted sections, add clear titles and balance audio. CapCut, InShot, VN and Edits are introduced as alternative tools; one suitable editor is selected for practice according to age, device and access.
  6. Gamma presentation demonstration: watch the instructor turn a simple outline into a presentation, check the output and improve its wording and layout. Children prepare their own storyboard and compare it with the reviewed example.

Small projects, clear progress

The portfolio can include an animated story, a simple Scratch game, an original drawing, a card or short slide deck, and a short edited video. Students explain what they made, receive feedback and improve one part of their work. Short quizzes check understanding without replacing practical work.

Who is this package for?

Young beginners aged 8 and above. Activities are adapted to reading confidence, device skills and readiness. No previous coding or design experience is required. A computer with a mouse is recommended for Scratch Desktop and digital art; the academy confirms any additional device or software requirements before enrollment.

Creative work with sensible boundaries

Use fictional characters and approved pictures instead of personal details or identifiable child photos. Public posting and personal social-media accounts are not required. Under-13 Canva practice requires an eligible Canva Education arrangement; otherwise the instructor demonstrates the tools and children plan designs offline. Gamma is an instructor-operated demonstration, with no child account or child information entered. App access and any optional software costs are confirmed before the cohort starts.

Completion and next steps

A THSM Tech completion certificate follows the required course activities, assessed project and final knowledge check. It is a course-completion certificate, not a qualification from the software companies. Fees, dates and the final class schedule will be announced by the academy. Ask about the next children's cohort or create a student account; course access requires academy approval.

Course activities may include guided lessons, practical assignments, live sessions and assessments. Your portal shows the exact requirements for your enrolled course. Certificates follow successful completion of the required activities, or administrator confirmation of classes already completed with the academy.

Age and course suitability

We welcome students from age 8. Course placement depends on readiness. Students under 18 need a parent-managed account; third-party tools may have additional age requirements. Marketing and advertising topics use supervised practice.
