Laptop with structured prompt cards leading to an AI response, illustrating practical prompt engineering.

Learn to turn everyday tasks into clear, reusable AI prompts. This practical course is designed for students, teachers, freelancers, content creators and working professionals who want to plan, write, analyse and review work more effectively.

What you will learn

  • Define a task, audience, useful context, constraints and the output you need.
  • Use examples, follow-up questions and prompt revisions to improve a response.
  • Ask for organised outputs such as checklists, tables, email drafts and simple structured data.
  • Compare results against a clear checklist, verify important facts and record what changed between prompt versions.
  • Build a personal prompt library for repeatable work in English and Roman Urdu.

Course modules

  1. AI and prompt foundations: what a prompt does, common AI limitations and choosing a suitable task.
  2. Writing clear instructions: task, audience, context, constraints and success criteria.
  3. Examples and output formats: zero-shot and few-shot practice, reusable templates, tables and JSON basics.
  4. Multi-step workflows: break a larger task into manageable stages, ask clarifying questions and revise outputs.
  5. Everyday applications: study plans, lesson planning, email, content briefs and customer-support drafts.
  6. Research and technical tasks: work from supplied references, summarise documents, explain code and plan spreadsheet tasks.
  7. Evaluation and responsible use: compare prompt versions, check unsupported claims, protect private information and recognise misleading instructions in supplied content.
  8. Final project: build, test and present a reusable prompt toolkit for a real study or work task.

Practical assignments

Rewrite five vague prompts with clear requirements. Create a reusable content or productivity template. Compare two prompt versions using the same five test cases and a simple scoring checklist. Keep a short record of improvements and remaining limitations.

Final project

Choose one use case, such as a study assistant, content brief workflow or customer-support drafting tool. Submit 10 reusable prompts, sample inputs and outputs, a five-case evaluation sheet and a short reflection. Use fictional or anonymised examples. Quality is judged on clarity, usefulness, testing and responsible handling of information.

Who can join

No coding experience is required for the core course. Basic computer, browser and typing skills are recommended. Tool demonstrations can vary by batch and account availability; each tool has its own age and account requirements.

Batch information
