Learn to turn raw footage into clear, engaging videos for social media and everyday business use. This practical course combines editing fundamentals with AI assistance for planning, transcription, captions, audio cleanup and creative exploration. Work on realistic projects for a fictional Pakistani business, creator or community initiative.

What you will learn

  • Plan a short video with a clear audience, message, opening and story.
  • Organise footage, trim clips, build a timeline and improve pacing, sound and colour.
  • Create vertical reels and adapt the same story for different screen formats.
  • Use AI tools thoughtfully, check generated outputs and deliver editable project files.

Course syllabus

  1. Story and video foundations: audience, hooks, shot choices, frame rates, aspect ratios and simple storyboards. Practice: plan a 30-second local-business video.
  2. Editing essentials: importing media, organising folders, cutting clips, timeline structure and pacing in CapCut, with an introduction to a desktop workflow in DaVinci Resolve or Premiere Pro. Practice: turn raw footage into a clear short sequence.
  3. AI-assisted planning: develop script options, shot lists and storyboards, then rewrite them for the intended audience. Practice: improve an AI draft and record your editorial decisions.
  4. Reels production: vertical framing, readable text, cutaways, transitions and platform-safe composition. Practice: edit a product or service reel without relying on excessive effects.
  5. Captions and audio: AI-assisted transcription, correcting Urdu and English captions, voice clarity, music balance and audio cleanup. Practice: produce a captioned video and check every line.
  6. Visual polish and AI media: basic colour correction, consistent shots, generated supporting visuals and responsible use of synthetic voice or video with permission. Practice: improve a sequence while clearly documenting generated material.
  7. Delivery and client workflow: export quality, file size, thumbnails, feedback, revision rounds and project handover. Review music and footage licences and obtain permission before using client assets in AI services.
  8. Final content package: plan, edit, caption and present a coordinated set of reels and a longer video, with source files and a short explanation of the workflow.

Assignments and final portfolio

Planned practice includes a storyboard, rough-cut edit, caption-and-audio exercise and a polished promotional reel. The final project is a content package for a fictional business or personal learning project: five vertical reels, one 2-3 minute video, a thumbnail, corrected captions and editable project files or permitted project links. Include source credits and explain where AI was used.

Who this course is for

Beginners, students, creators, social media managers and freelancers. Basic computer skills are enough. A smartphone can support filming and introductory editing; a laptop or desktop, headphones and sufficient storage are recommended for the full project workflow.

Tools and learning approach
