Prepare for Your First Online Class

Prepare for your first online class by checking your device and account, organizing your workspace and keeping course instructions and questions ready.

Your first online class checklist

GET READY TO LEARN

A few small checks before class leave more room for questions, practice and new ideas.

1. Get your setup ready

A laptop or desktop is useful for practical coding, editing and research tasks. A phone can help you browse the portal, but a larger screen and keyboard make projects easier to follow.

  • Charge your device and keep the charger nearby.
  • Check the internet connection in the place where you will study.
  • Try your headphones, microphone and speaker before joining.
  • Keep a notebook or a document ready for questions and short notes.
  • Close unrelated tabs and mute notifications that may interrupt you.

2. Open the right student portal

Sign in to your student portal using the account used for enrollment. Check the course name, scheduled class time and the activity’s instructions. Class times in the portal use Pakistan Standard Time.

For a student under 18, a parent or guardian should help with account access and check any tool or meeting arrangements. Use only the services and accounts agreed with the academy. Keep private joining links within your household.

3. Learn actively

Keep a short list of questions. When an idea is demonstrated, try it yourself if the instructor invites you to do so. Ask which step to repeat when something is unclear.

If your connection drops, rejoin when possible. If a recording is provided, use it to revisit the relevant explanation. A recording does not replace an assignment or assessment that the course requires.

4. Leave yourself a useful next step

Write one sentence about what you learned, save your work in a clearly named folder and note the next activity. Check the assignment deadline and accepted file formats before submitting.

If something did not work, describe the task, the step you reached and the error message. Avoid sending passwords, payment information or private documents.

Build a routine around your classes.
